KU TEAMS WIN 15 TROPHIES IN THE 2021 EDITION OF KENYA UNIVERSITY SPORTS ASSOCIATION (KUSA) WOMEN CHAMPIONSHIP
KUSA Women championship is a women only annual event in the KUSA calendar, it is organized in line with the international’s women day held on 8th of March of every year. KUSA organizes this event in an effort to promote gender equality in university sports.it is held over a three-day period and invites competition in eighteen (18) sports disciplines (football, netball, volleyball, handball, hockey, rugby, tennis, table tennis, badminton, chess, scrabble, karate, taekwondo, swimming, athletics, softball, darts, wood ball). The event has also been used to honor women who have done exemplary work in sports both at administrative and competitive level. KUSA women championship is currently in its 10th edition, the first edition was held in 2012.
The 10th edition was held in Technical University of Mombasa on 5th – 7th of March 2021.
KU performance
Kenyatta University has won all the editions since the games were first held. In this year’s (2021) edition of the games, KU entered 15 teams and won 15 trophies in total (3 winner trophies, 7 1st runner up and 2nd runner up) and amassed a total of 28 medals (7 Gold medals, 12 silver and 9 bronze medals)

Due to the change in the award system by KUSA where individual sports (athletics and karate) were awarded as team events, KU was therefore ranked position two despite having a superior Gold tally compared to any other University. Below is the overall medal tally for all participating universities.
